This review is from: The Gallows Bird (Patrik Hedstrom and Erica Falck, Book 4) (Patrik Hedstrom 4) (Paperback)
The most refreshing aspect of this book has been commented on - the absence of tortured detectives with drink and women problems, but instead ones with domestic lives and loves! The plot was ingenious but its development was very slow, with much unnnecessary padding and many characters who were little more than caricatures. To me it also lacked the atmosphere of other Scancrime authors - Mankell, Fossum, Indridason especially. It was also easy to work out the perpetrator, if not their motives. Only fair-to-middling, then, overall.
