This review is from: The 21st-Century Screenplay: A Comprehensive Guide to Writing Tomorrow's Films (Paperback)
Heard the author speak at an event and was impressed but at the time the book was pricey at £30.
Borrowed a friend's copy to make sure I really needed to add another screenwriting book to my collection. Turns out I did!
This book is very well written, covers the basics of traditional linear narrative and then demonstrates the many possible departures by analysing films that have been both successful and unsuccessful in utilising alternative narrative structures.
A very useful resource if you're looking to play with or subvert the usual linear three act structure but don't want to come unstuck doing so.
