4.0 out of 5 stars Great tale, but not the best in the series., 22 May 2012
This review is from: Sweet Release (Kenleigh/Blakewell Family Saga) (Kindle Edition)
The amazon blurb tells you pretty much all of this tale, so there's no point in repeating any of it. But, I will tell you that it is a very steamy historical romance, with the author having done her research about the period. At the start, with the bitterness between Cassie and Alec/Cole, I wasn't sure that he could be man enough to get over the fact that she basically owned him, but boy, did he get his own back in the bedroom!!

This tale introduces, IMO, the best male lead of this trilogy, Jamie, Cassie's brother, who goes on to have his own tale, Carnal Gift (very aptly named) in the next book in the series. That book has to be the 5* Keeper of the lot, unlike this one, which whilst very well-written, was too angsty and brutal for me to want to re-read it; it's still doing the rounds at my local library!

I don't like historical stories or romances. It is something that just hasn't appealed to me but I love Pamela Clare's writing and I devoured her I team series - so I am going to give this a go based on your review. I might be surprised!
