It's been a long time and much in the world has changed. Kate, however, even after her long absence from the glare of public scrutiny, remains as magical as ever. I bought the album on the day of release but had to wait a few days for the right moment to listen (what's a few days after a 12 year wait?). The Red Shoes had many songs that did not quite reach inside and touch, unlike all that had gone before, but with Ariel, Kate Bush has produced a wonderfully beautiful piece of music that reclaims her rightful place as the best female musical artist of the last 30 years. Ariel will no doubt be regarded as one of her best works.
Spread over 2 discs - A Sea Of Honey and A Sky of Honey. The first is a collection of stand alone songs, my favourite being How To Be Invisible, with it's hypnotic guitar. The second is a flawless musical concept that transports the listener into the realms of imagination for 45 minutes of aural pleasure. Worth the wait? - Without Question.
