This review is from: Iriver 40GB MP3 Player with FM Tuner H-140 (Electronics)
I have been very skeptical about mp3 players until now, both in terms of sound quality and number of tracks which could be stored. The enormous (40gb)capacity of the H140, along with the FM radio, optical in and out, and voice recording, persuaded me to take the plunge. It was clearly streets ahead of the iPod "equivalent".
I've been very impressed with the sound quality through my Sennheiser MX500 headphones. I'm up to 160 CDs on the device, and only just used 10gb - so plenty left. I listen on my journey to work and back, for a couple of hours each day, and am starting to enjoy the tube travel!!
Sound through my (fairly good) home hi-fi is acceptable for background or party listening, but not CD quality for "serious" listening.
Although you can record direct from CD, you will need a computer to be able to name and organise the tracks/CDs. It does take a little patience to learn how to use the machine, and the front click wheel is slightly awkward to use. The device weighs about as much as a mobile phone from 3 years ago, so can feel slightly heavy in a coat pocket. Clicking? Even without the supplied remote there are two quiet clicks between each track. But these are minor quibbles when faced with the main facilities.
I highly recommend the H140.
