Get the Legacy remasters instead,
This review is from: Soul To Soul/Texas Flood/Couldn't Stand The Weather (Audio CD)The problem here is not the music - Stevie was amazing. Yes he did owe a lot to Hendrix (what modern guitar player of any note doesn't?), but he had a style that was definitely his own. Another review on this page calls Stevie the Hendrix for the radio 2 generation - that's not the insult it first appears. If you want Hendrix there's only one way to get it, Stevie was different - tonally he was Hendrix on steroids, musically he was Hendrix with '50's rock and roll in the place of Jimi's psychedelia.
However it doesn't look as though these are the Legacy re-issues, which have been remastered and include extra live tracks and interviews and, at the time of writing, are available cheaper!
The music is a must if you like rockin' modern blues - just make sure you are getting the best (i.e. Legacy) editions.
UPDATE- squinting at the rear cover shot reveals that these may indeed be the Legacy re-issues. in which case just check that they aren't available cheaper separately.
