I Had To Check That The CD Was Fred Frith,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Letter (Audio CD)
This isn't the Fred Frith I know. Actual songs, you know with tunes and chords and the like, with vocals (well so they claimed), and with very little of his trade mark guitar playing. The whole thing sounded like a group of sixth formers playing around with some recording gear. These songs made pop songs sound good and well structured and the vocals (?), well, you know the sound a 12 year old girl makes trying to be some big pop star queen......yeah, juke!!! And the words were like the ones that 12 year old would write, weedy and crap.
There were your electronic sounds and arty stuff but they seemed more like after thoughts to try to pep it up and not all tracks were songs, but Fred, what were you thinking? "It's Frith, Fred, but not as we know it."
