This review is from: XSMC3 Wireless Multi-Room Micro System iPod/iPhone Dock with AirPlay (Electronics)Within 10 minutes of owning this product I knew I'd made a mistake. On the very first track I played over Airplay from iTunes, it cut out, and then couldn't reconnect. On average, I would say it can play around 3 or 4 tracks before the problem occurs. Also, once you lose sync between iTunes and the speakers, it will continue to "play" on iTunes (ie the bar will continue to move, but no sound will be coming out of the speakers), but you can't change tracks or restart the song until you reset both the speakers and iTunes.
I should add that I have no problems with my wireless network at home either, and all other devices seem fine, so it's a problem with the speakers.
Finally, the speakers themselves are quite weak, so even if I plug in with a cable (how I use it now, as the Airplay functionality is so horribly broken), the sound isn't that great. This is, however, the least of my worries.
If I could return it, I would.

A. Holland says:
I have exactly the same problem. The sound quality is great but i have to hard reboot, as a result of the unit freezing, 9 times out of 10 when using Airplay feature. I think the firmware needs more beta testing before being put on general release. It happens so often I am amazed they released it in this state.
I will be taking it back for a refund.

The problem is, it fits a gap in the market - affordable Airplay / DLNA stand-alone speaker - but doesn't do it well. I was looking at this mainly as a way to stream music from my iPad 2, but i may save myself the money now and get a cheap wired dock instead.

Check the surround sound option under the sound menu on it. I have one which sounded terrible out of th box until I turned the surround sound option off. This made a WORLD of difference.
