Harder to put down than your six-month-old!,
This review is from: Lullaby (Paperback)
This is a fast-paced and beautifully constructed thriller, but what really separates it from the competition is the fact that it's also very perceptive about the experience of being a new mother and the strange things it can do to your head. Jess, the mother at the centre of the nightmare, is a character who engages your sympathy from the first and her relationship with Silver, the man in charge of the case, is an intriguing one. The twists and turns of the plot are dizzying but it retains believability while being impossible to guess what happens next. I was really shocked by the ending, but in an entirely good way, so I'm really looking forward to her next one.
