This looks like an excellent book, except that I do not have the technical expertise that is necessary to asses it, to my satisfaction. I have been involved with putting together a website for a Writer’s Group that I run. However, the host provided templates and various other helps.
To quote from the author’s introduction to the book, as an indication of the degree of technical knowledge that is needed,
“Although I think that anyone with some knowledge of HTML, CSS and PHP can learn WordPress from this book, it is important to remember that this is not a beginner’s book. … And although having the basics in here will help anyone get started with WordPress, you really should know some HTML and CSS and have at least a grasp of what PHP is and does. If those are alien concepts to you, I urge you to read up on them first.”
With that proviso, he says, “When you’re done with this book, you’ll be ready to build just about anything, using WordPress.
This is a substantial book of 354 pages, packed with information, pointers and fully expressed examples for someone with the technical knowhow. If someone can “do” HTML, CSS and PHP, then I think this book is well worthwhile considering.
