Partially Beautiful - but been done better before,

This review is from: 1 Giant Leap -12tr- (Audio CD)
Undoubted some very beautiful music here, but is quite inconsistent. There have been better attempts at the combination of modern western music and so called "world music". For example the soundtrack to the "Lonely Planet" a uk tv series, some of the recordings on Peter Garbriel's Real World projects, anything by Ofra Haza and many more. Don't be swayed by the names Maxi Jazz, Robbie Williams and Michael Stipe they are here and too great effect, but if you are expecting the album to be like the "Robbie" tinged single, you will be underwhelmed.
However for those in the mood for the modern, psuedo-dance chillout vibe, then tracks 2 and 3 may fulfil your need, but if you are looking for "modern" world music look elsewhere, there is much better out there.
