This review is from: The Escape Artist: Life from the Saddle (Paperback)
This was quite possibly the worst book I have ever read. I had to speed read some sections, otherwise I would have given up the will to live. Mr Seaton strikes me as one of the most selfish people ever to roam this planet. I felt deep sympathy for his poor wife suffering from terminal cancer; and his two small children, who were dragged along to cycling events that could not have been of any interest to them at all. The entire book was a self indulgent memoire about a man who would have liked to be a champion cyclist, but was basically not good enough. I get the impression that he would like to blame his family for his lack of success in the cycling field, but he has no one but himself to blame for this truly awful book. I would have happily thrown it away after the first two pages, but was obliged to continue as it was a bookclub read.
