Kodak DX6490 - First Digital Camera,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare DX6490 Digital Camera [4MP 10xOptical] (Electronics)
This is my first digital camera and I've had it 3 weeks now. I did a lot of research before I purchased and decided on this one because of the megapix, the 10x zoom and the price of course. I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere than Amazon!!! I also purchased the Docking Station, the Kodak case and a spare battery. The camera feels very solid and robust and has very easy to use functions and I soon found my way around the features even without the help of the excellent electronic manual. The camera is very easy to use and has all the functions I need. The zoom is excellent and I too did find the focus was struggling in poor light after about half zoom on the scale, but I suppose that's to be expected in bad light. However, the pop up flash (you have to open it manually) helps and I've had some excellent indoor shots. The docking station is dead easy, just place the camera on the dock and press a button, it's all automatic to the PC. The Kodak bag is only just big enough and gets a bit a tight even with just the shoulder strap and the extra battery, you can't get much else in. If you intend to carry many other extras, get a bigger bag. The charger that comes with the camera only charges the battery when out of the camera but comes with a couple of adaptors. This and the spare battery, will come in useful for those foreign trips. You need the docking station to charge the battery in the camera. Overall I am enjoying this camera and can't wait for the better days to really put it to the test.
