Not just Mull's History,
This review is from: Loss (Audio CD)
This album is captivating, intelligent, enchanting and utterly melancholic throughout.
Colin MacIntyre should be hailed as an Indie saviour on the strength of this, his first effort, a collection of songs based on the isolational lifestyle of a small island community.
Drawing from a immense collection of instruments including an actual fairground ride, the album is a lyrical and musical pleasure and is a mixture of power pop guitar driven rants to gentle and introspective acoustic numbers.
My favourite track is "I Tried" which is a passionate, rather rocky but deeply introspective look back at a failed relationship. It's all there - the anger and the pain expressed beautifully and with power.
I can assure any prospective buyers of "Loss" that you will not be dissppointed whether your leaning is towards indie or acoustic, Doves style pop. Another must buy.
