Interesting. How many minutes long is it? Amazon lists this release as 93 mins, and the English market 2004 DVD release as 92 mins. If you do a search online for amitc dot org, you'll discover that the complete version is 96 mins, but I wonder if this complete version was ever released to the home buying public? If it was, I wonder if it was on video tape only? (But Amazon lists the UK video tape version as 92 mins.)
I just read this post on IMDB, in the forum section about this film:
Ignore the "cut version" rubbish on wikipedia.
The truth is much simpler: PAL speedup. Cinema films run at 24 frames a second, PAL dvds at 25 frames a second. Hence this 96 minute film runs a shade over 92 minutes on the 2004 dvd.
Also wrong on wikipedia is the claim that the 2004 dvd was mastered from "the last" 35mm print - it's very obviously from video, as proved by tape-noise, colour-bleeding and the smearing of the credits.
The key production personnel of this film have stated that they have no knowledge of any other (longer) version. You can see them talk about AMITC if you go to YouTube, and search for the following phrase:
Colin Firth, Kenith Trodd and Pat O'Connor talk about A Month in the Country 1/2
You can easily find part two, because it's called 2/2. At the end of that YouTube video, a member of the audience asks if there is a longer version...
