This review is from: The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream (Paperback)
I got the wrong idea of what this book is.
What it is, is a spiritual/faith/I-believe-in-God book.
Which is all very nice, but being an engineer and practically minded its a load of cobblers.
I did read it to the end, only because it was so short.
Look before you leap, I wish I had.

You said it, you are an engineer and practical and therefore probably go with black and white and logic...but how boring a life if you have no dream to follow. It's dreams, hopes and faith that brings on miracles and puts the spring in your step and song in your heart. Just like the manufacturer of a machine produces a booklet of instructions or a manual, this is how books like this and also Holy Books such as the Bible are instructions to your life. afterall who was your creator/manufacturer? Perhaps you should read it again from another perspective.
I hope you get from it what many others have

Mr. N. J. Houchin says:
If you choose to use the Bible as guide to live by you could end up as anything from a bigoted genocidal maniac, to a saintly pacifist, its utterly inconsistent & no book to live by, perhaps you should read it! Neither is The Alchemist, it is pure cliche & wishful thinking.
PS. Maybe you could try the EvilBible.com as handy reference guide for you bible reading whilst looking again at you 'instructions to life'

I am not going to recommend you read the bible, just wanted to say your review made me laugh! It has also deterred me from buying it as I am sure it wouldn't be my cup of tea either! :)
