My new favourite book,
This review is from: His Father's Son (Paperback)
I loved this book. I enjoyed a couple of the crime books but it's not really my thing, this however, caught my imagination and made me want to stay up nights to read it despite my own crying child depriving me of sleep at the same time. I felt drawn in from the start by little Marti and his happy go lucky life in Oz but then hurt for him when he was so confused about his parents. As a parent myself this obviously made me stop and think about my own skills and where my ideas come from. I could see where Joey was coming from and also recognised the dark past of an Irish Catholic family messing with your brain. It was total roller coaster of emotions but without the need for superficial action to keep me involved. The rolling away of the wooden house in Australia really got me and I was rooting for Marti when he got caught up in the Catholic boys school. I still wished he had gone back to Australia though. I felt like going and getting him myself and I havent been this involved in a book in a long time.
More power to your elbow Tony, keep em coming and we'll keep reading them whatever it is you write.
