5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant picture and sound, 26 Mar. 2009
This review is from: Panasonic TX-P37X10B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview (Electronics)
Took delivery of my new P37X10B yesterday. I supported my local high street shop rather than Amazon because I thought I might need help with setup and they delivered immediately. But installation proved a doddle and I was up and running with my Sky+ box and (very old) DVD and VHS recorders within 10 minutes. I only have SD but the picture is brilliant - in every sense - both in Sky mode and Freeview: far, far superior to my old huge 28" JVC. The surround sound is also effective - I can anly assume it is an improvement on last year's model which was subject to some criticism. In summary I am delighted. I tend to sit about 2 metres away from the screen and that is fine - I would not want to sit any nearer to a screen this size. Highly recommended.

I am so glad that you like this Tv as am hoping to get one soon! Do you think the sound is good enough to not require a separate sound system? Hope so as will save me money!lol

Thanks!

Well I don't need a separate sound system but everyone has different standards. Why not try the TV on its own first? Make sure you set the sound to "surround sound" - very easy to set.

Hi, i purchased my P37X10B over the weekend and got this set up by a local company, i had read loads of reviews about this TV and 95% of the reviews were good, i had an old 29' Phillips, so decided to upgrade, when thi swas set up i was a touch disapointed with the picture and sound, i had the rugby and football on and the players were quite fuzzy, not what i was expecting at all, i have mucked around with the sound/picture settings and its still the same, some channels are great but others are very average, i'm maybe being over critical and not giving my Phillips the credit it desreves, but i did expect a huge difference right away, i linked this to my SKY+ and my DVD player, none of which has HDMI connections, would this make a difference?
Also, i removed my SD card from my digital camera and inserted this into the slot at the side of the TV but got nothing, god knows what im doing wrong.

Many thanks for replying! Yes I will try the TV on it's own and, hopefully, won't need a separate sound system. I am happy with the sound on my Panasonic LCD but this is SRS Trusurround so not sure how it compares.

Have you tried new scart leads as this can make a difference? Also, the quality on some channels aren't as good as others. Not sure re the SD card.

Can't understand it. My SD card works perfectly in the TV - a great asset. My installer told me that HDMI would make no difference at all except for HD (which I don't have or need at present). My sports pictures are really great - I have been watching football and golf today - and they are vibrant and not at all fuzzy. I have the picture and colour set to "normal" with no adjustments.

I suggest you call your local company back in to check the set and the installation.

Remember you have to let a plasma tv 'bed in' so to speak before it reaches it's optimum performance
