Gospel of Matthew,

This review is from: The Gospels (Revolutions Series) (Paperback)
Matthew was, as far as I know, the closest historically to the story that was Jesus. The threads of religion probably derived from cultish followers of Egytian theology. There is no evidence for the Jews being in Egypt, nor any apart
from vague speculation, for the existence of "Jesus". Indeed there is no evidence of King David. But human beings will cling to any hope when they're drowning. The essential and most revolutionary of Jesus' propositions, unmatched by any western philosophy, is that we should treat all other creatures on this planet as we would want to be treated ourselves. Marx said "the philosophers have only interpreted the world: the point, however, is to change it."
H. G. Wells put it that Christianity has not been "tried and found wanting, but tried and found too hard." Is a revolution of human nature possible? Every day from everywhere : nothing but self destruction. Read "the sermon on the mount" and see if you can match up.
