Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
BitDefender antivirus does what it says on the tin - but it does it a lot better than many of the other antivirus engines. It manages to strike the right balance between giving too much information and dumbing your AV down (and presumably enhancing usability) - it gives you enough info, with easy options for seeing more. It doesn't treat you like an idiot, but it also comes with smart controls and customisation options.
Installation (on Win7 x64) is quick and the process doesn't prompt you with loads of questions. When you install it, as with other AV products, it'll do a quick scan and show you any other vulnerabilities in your system, like weak passwords. The product includes a file shredder for secure deletion, which is quite handy.
It does take a while to do a full system scan, but is thorough, finding things like tracking cookies, and is quicker than many other products. To scan the 2.7m items on my PC, it took 2hrs 41 mins, which is fairly swift in my experience. It disinfects things by default, giving you the option to delete.
So far - a few days in - it seems like one of the best AV packages out there, but I will update my review if anything else noteworthy happens with it.
