This review is from: Avro Vulcan Manual: An Insight into Owning, Restoring, Servicing and Flying Britain's Legendary Cold War Bomber (Owner's Workshop Manual) (Haynes Owners' Workshop Manuals) (Hardcover)
I love this series of Haynes Manuals (Apollo Lunar Lander, Vulcan Bomber etc). The sub title of course is a bit jokey, this book does not give you the detailed servicing schedule of a Vulcan Bomber so that you can give it a full service just like you could on your Vauxhall Viva over a weekend. It does however have a lot of detail about the aircraft, its systems, its components etc.

If you are a bit of a Vulcan nut (I am) then it is a great read and a book to dip into every so often.

Should I ever find myself with a Vulcan bomber in my garage or taking up space in that hangar I have at the end of my back yard... maybe this book will help me keep it maintained in reasonable order on a tight budget.

...If Haynes would do a similar manual for the Class 37 diesel locomotive then my nerdy dream garage would be complete.

Is the book a sort-of satirical thing? My mother is a hefty Vulcan nut and this sounds like an interesting present for her, but would it simply bore her with technicalities or is there a lot more to it than that...?

If she is a Vulcan nut then it would be a good present. There is some technical detail in there but nothing too dull. Its really just a great book that goes into a lot of detail including the design and operations of the Vulcan. Lots of great pictures too.
