Dalek Empire 3.4, The Demons: Devilishly good drama from the Big Finish team,
This review is from: Dalek Empire 3.4 - The Demons (Doctor Who S.) (Audio CD)
First released in 2004, this is the fourth episode of the third season of audio releases to feature the Daleks and no Doctor.
This episode picks up directly from the third in the season. All the separate story lines (Galanar's mission, the Graxis wardens, Sy Tarkov's adventure with his daughter and Sellestru's political battles) are progressed, though this episode focuses much more on David Tenant's Galanar. He finds himself in one of the Dalek healing zones, and as he tries to find out more we find out a lot more about him. We also find out a lot about Sy Tarkov's daughter. The revelations come thick and fast, and there is a return for two characters from the second series, an unwelcome cameo from the irritating Morli, and a very welcome return for a major character, despite this being set millennia into the future of the earlier adventures.
It's an excellent story that progresses te characters and dishes out lots of adventure along the way. The development of Galanar is excellent (and David Tenant's performance is the real stand ut of this series), and the cliff hanger left me desperate to put the next disc in the player.
It's a single disc release, and clocks in at just over an hour. I love the sixties retro artwork, there is a feeling that this has been produced by people like me for people like me - people with a love of good design, a reverence for the Daleks and a sense of style. Excellent, 5 stars.
