Brilliant intro to Shakespeare,
This review is from: "Macbeth" for Kids (Shakespeare Can be Fun!) (Paperback)
I bought this book a while back and just had to write a review of it. I wasn't going to, but when I saw that it had received a really bad review from someone I thought I ought to put my pennyworth in.
It is so child friendly in its presentation with beautiful illustrations done by children in the author's class that my children loved. They were inspired to do their own pictures and cut them out and perform the play themselves for me.
There is just the right mix of modern translation and adaptation combined with some of the better known speeches that a child should recognise as being from the play.
My oldest is now reading A Midsummer Night's Dream and loving it. I never thought she would be this interested in Shakespeare but it is due to having read this.
We also bought the same author's - Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet.
Incidentally, I took a look at the other reviews the bad reviewer had done and they were all similarly critical. I wonder what books she actually likes?
