boring static drama.,
This review is from: The Reptile (Blu-ray + DVD) (Blu-ray)
The two stars are for the HD. The film looks lovely in HD but that is all. I do really like hammer films but this one was just too dull. The actors do their best with a lifeless story. Strictly for Hammer Horror fans in my opinion.

yes, it for hammer fans and fans of low budget horror. this is a drama first with horror elements. I actually saw this at a revival house which showed old horror movies . and noone in the audience felt cheated.

I didn't feel cheated by the film either. It is in my opinion a very dull horror film. There was very little drama in it for me I'm afraid. I thought it looked great in HD and I'm enjoying "The Devil Rides out" in HD. There was a lot of complaints about it being tampered with but it seems to be just a few seconds of blue light. I didn't notice anything else in it. If you haven't seen TDRO then do get it and ignore the bad reviews. I know what they are saying but it really in not a deal breaker for me.

I very much like The Reptile, superb performance from Nowel Willman and a great creepy atmosphere, one of my very favorite Hammer films, but each to his own. i also like very much The Devil Rides Out but prefer The Reptile.

Interesting observations, I really liked Plague of the Zombies, Devil Rides Out and other classic Hammer Horrors but I found The Reptile to be a very dull and uninteresting Hammer Horror, a real drop in quality from classics like The Brides of Dracula and incredibly and painfully slow-paced.

I am a HAMMER fan have been for years now and love the movie THE REPTILE as i do with most HAMMER movies.I dont think it fair that a lot of people judge these movies by watching them on tv after all you are watching these movies not the way they were made to be seen no matter how large your tv screen is you are still watching them on a tv.For years now i watch all movies on the projector and only use these for movies only . I put on double bills remember them and put shows on using 16mm super 8 and blu-ray and the discs look great up there i have had people come to a show who maybe has the disc at home say after seeing it on the big screen they cannot go back to watching it on the small screen it does not have the same impact. So if you enjoy watching movies on tv great but dont judge them as this is not fair on the fans and the people who made the movies for big screen impact and not tv
