Erratic sound but fun for the fans,

This BBC Radio version, as others have remarked, has sound quality issues. Some of the actors seem to be a considerable distance from the mic, and others sound much too close to it. For me, the occasional boominess and slight bass distortion can be compensated for by severe skewing of the EQ, but (and this is a big but) the Radiophonic Workshop effects are then horrendously loud by comparison. Ditto the 'encyclopedia' dialog that was put through an echo unit.
In short, it's a severe equalization issue here, and I've decided to 'tame' the files through an audio processor, redoing the sound levels. However, at around 20 minutes of work-time per file, this won't be everyone's chosen option. Asimov fans have to ask themselves, though: have you got so many full-cast plays of his stories already, that you just don't want any more of them?
