below average even for Haynes,
This review is from: Volvo V70 and S80 Petrol and Diesel Service and Repair Manual: 1998 to 2005 (Haynes Service and Repair Manuals) (Hardcover)
The cover says this manual includes V70 2000-2004 Petrol and Diesel. Even as Haynes inaccuracies go this is misleading as it only covers the later Volvo D5 diesel introduced in 2002, not the earlier 2.5TDi Audi diesel which was fitted in these cars until 2001 and is completely different. So as I have one of these earlier cars half the manual is next to useless for me.
However I have kept the manual for the bits it still covers like body and electricals, but like every other Haynes manual I have ever bought I know not to trust it. The wiring diagrams will inevitably be wrong, it will not offer any genuine insight on how to troubleshoot common problems, and most big jobs will be covered by a banal "take it to a specialist" comment. So I'll go as ever to online forums and figure it out myself. Inevitably many of the things Haynes says you can't do can actually be done quite easily if you have a brain, and what they do describe is probably more easily done another way than the way they say to do it.
Haynes only sell their manuals because they are cheap and nobody else tries. Better than nothing and for £15 no big deal, but could be so much better.
