I'll start off by firstly explaining this was not my usual read, normally I stay away from fiction, however this one did take my interest when i started reading it.
At first i was taken in by the dark story line and felt that the author was writing for himself any not anyone else (I like the thought of people having original thoughts and not bending to what the public like to hear) as i got taken in by more of the story I realised i had stumbled over my worst fear when it comes to fiction authors...It was as if there was a check list being ticked off as I read.
I felt this was an author who had a plan for a good book but would more than likely be aimed at a male market, so he cast his net out to try and make the main character have some sex appeal and throw in a woman to make an adequate side line romance with no real purpose.
I will admit this book has suspense, action, a love able yet mysterious main character, romance, mystery and adventure but really do authors need all this?! All became clear when I then looked up the author and found it was part of some series, which for the record I shall not be purchasing.
In future I think I'll stick to my non fiction titles.
