Highly enjoyed by a newcomer to Tomb Raider,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tomb Raider (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Having memories of a caricature protagonist and relatively clunky controls from the original Tomb Raider games, I was swayed to trying this new version of Tomb Raider after reading the game's positive reviews.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable, atmospheric and gripping game. The platforming controls feel fluid, the level design is expansive without being confusing, the combat intuitive and the story has had me hooked. This is the tale of a young woman's fight for survival against the odds, her transition from vulnerable young adult to capable adventurer.
The voice acting for Lara is spot on, with you really feeling every moment she is going through. Every traumatic quick-time event, every moment of growth and self discovery has real impact. If I was to be picky, some of the facial animations look a little bit wooden, but really, that's the only thing that broke my immersion into the experience.
I bought this game as a punt, my expectations were low. I would however recommend anyone else who may be hovering to get this game now! This is a tense, rewarding, engaging adventure and an absolute heap of fun!

Has this game got a descent playtime or is it a complete in 5 hours type?

It took me about 15 hours and its the first ever game I have gone back to to find all the hidden bits afterwards I enjoyed it that much.

It took me about 18 hours to play it through. I feel that's quite decent. Sorry for the late reply.
