Awful prequel to excellent Wool,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Shift: (Wool Trilogy 2) (Wool Trilogy Series) (Kindle Edition)
What went wrong here? This 'how it all begun' story, which brings us all the way to where Wool ends from another angle (read: another Silo) is the opposite of Wool: incredibly tedious, long-winded, badly written and truly, awfully depressing. All the main characters do is cry with guilt and/or sadness for their own losses and/or the horrible fate of humanity, the action is respective and slow, and the plot thin as a pancake. I started skipping pages less than half-way through and by the end of it I was reading one in ten, just to see how the thing wraps up. I don't know what Dust, the final instalment in the trilogy, is like, but if you enjoyed Wool, as I did, steer clear of Shift as it will spoil the Silo world for you and you'll most likely abandon it altogether...
