This review is from: Earth [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
As many other reviewers have mentioned, this is footage from prior BBC spectacles, edited down into what is very generously described as a "film".
The narrative is dreadfully boring with the term "maybe" thrown in to virtually every sentence either to create a sense of suspense about the possible fate of an animal, or to dangle nebulous threats about climate change. A conservation theme tries to cling on to dear life throughout the course of film, but the editing and scripting are so badly mangled and erratic that the theme fails to maintain either purpose or gravitas. The film jumps between various habitats (desert, Arctic, tropic, etc) without any apparent plan - it's like it is done just to get as much contrast into the 90 minutes as possible.
In short, buy this if you (a) won't miss the money and (b) want a taster of what sort of visuals are in the Planet Earth box set. Because some of the visuals ARE spectacular.
