Takes Your Breath Away.,
This review is from: Painting Landscapes with Atmosphere: An Artist's Essential Guide (Paperback)
This is the last of Ray Balkwill's books, I have just finished, and having reviewed one already today, I am still in the same frame of mind.
This guy has left me feeling that I have waisted the last 20 years, painting what I thought was my best. Looking at this book, even if you had never been to Devon before, you could find your way around.
A person could spend there whole life in front of an easel, and if they came away half as good as Mr' Balkwill, They would be very happy indeed.
I went over to Totnes this morning, to a gallery, where Ray Balkwill has some originals, it was raining -cats and dogs- but I never felt a drop. All I could do was stand there and wonder how the hell anyone could paint like that. If this guy ever decides to paint the -Yellow Pages-, I hope he puts me down for six copies.
Good on you mate. What a star.

Mrs Wibble says:
Just a note for anyone wanting to buy this book. The third-party sellers seem to want to retire early, judging from the prices they are trying to get! I have just found it on the WH Smith website for £8.96. The site says it will be available in 1-2 weeks, but when you order, an email arrives saying the publisher is reprinting. It could be they've got it wrong and we're too late, but the same message is on the Guardian bookshop website so I've got it on backorder and am happy to sit it out for a few weeks to see what happens. Hope this helps.
