Great product but all the reviews are not in one place,
This review is from: Yamaha PDX50GR Grey AirWired iPod Speaker System (Electronics)This unit is available in a few colours with slightly different model numbers eg this one is GR for grey. This means the Amazon reviews are scattered around, I think Amazon should bring them all together, as the colour makes no difference to its performance.
I bought one and was so impressed I bought another two! The idea was to have the amps in different rooms, so as I walked around the house with my ipod the nearest one would spring into life. This happens, but they somehow interact with each other and the volume goes up and down uncontrollably. Yamaha are investigating this for me.
But as a single unit, it is superb. I think it sounds better than my Bose Soundock (portable) and a very expensive Vita R4. The bass is so good that I had to set my ipod classic 160GB equaliser to flat, otherwise there was too much bass (it was on bass boost for my other docks). It is clear bass too, not just muffled thumps, so you can hear all the bass notes.
Sometimes the connection stops for a few seconds for no apparent reason, although I just found this happened when I started up a nearby microwave (although it came back even when the microwave was still on). I don't know why the others happen, but they are not frequent and quite quick (just had a thought, perhaps it is when my neighbour uses a radio remote control to open his garage).
To summarise all the above waffle, I am amazed at the sound, it is full and open and all I could ask for. I have them tucked out of sight as you don't need to get at them. And nothing could be better than sitting back in an armchair with your ipod (with transmitter) nestled in the palm of your hand, and able to listen to music and control everything on the ipod at the same time (even the volume can be controlled with the clickwheel, and this does NOT work in any other dock).
