More suited to sewing for 2 to 5 year old girls,
This review is from: Making Children's Clothes (Kitchen & Home)
Very beautiful book oozing with colour photographs and a wonderful array of fabrics which are inspiring in themselves as are some of the finished details. Patterns are included but have to be traced off (as is normal for these books).
However, I have yet to make anything from the book because, like other reviewers have found, its primarily for age 2 upwards and the baby patterns are disappointing (although the bloomers are very cute) and could all be found in a single commercial pattern envelope.
I look forward to putting some of the patterns into practice (I love the bubble skirt). I have to admit I am apprehensive because, although the fabrics and finishes are pretty, the fit looks poor on most of the child models (and even terrible in some cases) for the tops and dresses. Until I try it, I won't know if it is a sizing issue with the pattern or whether they photographed the clothes on kids of the wrong size! I also wonder if the problem is partly due to the use of stiff quilting fabrics which make some of the tops and dresses look uncomfortable in the photos.
Big pluses for the book for very concise sewing instructions accompanied by clear, colour photographs, the inclusion of useful fitting tricks like button-hole elastic to make waistbands adjustable and the lovely thick, glossy paper which makes the book feel very good quality, it certainly makes a pretty addition to my sewing room, I hope it doesn't prove to be purely eye-candy!
