Bright and colourful, but too large to handle easily,
This review is from: Baby Touch: Peekaboo (Board book)
I bought this book for my small baby (3 months old) as she loves looking at books and this one states it is suitable from 'birth+'. However, we've found it a bit difficult to read as it is a very large book - she can't reach the textured bits on the pages, and turning the pages with her sitting on my lap isn't easy! Perhaps it will be a bit easier when she's bigger and can sit on the floor and look at it. It is very bright and colourful with plenty to look at and touch, but is very random with no real story or link between the pictures on the page, and the language makes me cringe a bit ('Now what can you see? A tractor, chug. And what does he do? He says peekaboo!'). At the moment my daughter's not as keen on this one as she is books with a white background and simple pictures (I bought 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' at the same time and she seems to look at these with a bit more focus and interest), and I think it's perhaps a bit too much too look at in one go. I'll try this one again when she's a bit older to see if she enjoys opening the flaps and touching the textured bits when she can reach, but for small babies I wouldn't really recommend it.

I agree. My eight-month-old daughter also much prefers books with a white background and less on each page. This book is beautifully made, but a bit of an assault on the senses with all the colours and images. Also, as you say, too large and heavy for a baby to handle. Shame!
