Moeran cello concerto,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Moeran: Cello Concerto, Serenade, Lonely Waters, Whythorne's Shadow (Audio CD)
I have never heard anything by Moeran before, and apart from the first two or three movements. when Guy's beautiful tone and skill could be heard, the orchestra was too loud. I didn't like the piece anyway. I have played alongside Guy in various concerts in this area in the past [Stevenage] and I don't think that this recording does his capabilities justice.

Roasted Swan says:
A bizarrely ignorant review - what did you play - the spoons perhaps? Johnston plays very well, the Moeran concerto is a fine piece, given the soloist only features in the first 3 tracks (ie the concerto) - its not wholly surprising he can't be heard elsewhere. Stick with the spoons and leave critical analysis to others.
