I was expecting a dud, but found a well made game,
This review is from: Dark Void (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Watch your character run down one long corridor and shoot at enemies from behind crates. If that sounds boring to you don't bother playing this game. It has little more to offer. If you are up for a bit more of the same or haven't played this type of game yet then this one isn't a bad shout. Firstly the (xbox 360 pad) controls are great. They are very easy to get to grips with and work very smoothly. The corridor and crates can go straight up or down and there are platformy style jumps but with your rocket propelled backpack and good control system it never gets frustrating. There are also a few flying areas which work quite well. The graphics are perfectly adequate. They won't tax a modern system so if you are looking for a game that makes the most of your costly graphics card and quad core this isn't it. The story and setting is perfectly adequate. You are constantly one step behind a female friend in a rocky jungle and have to wade through humanoid robots to help her. This game doesn't get dark or adult or realistic or overly violent against anything but robots. So it is a good game for those that aren't quite up to their late teens. It is just trying to be a well made action game. It has achieved it's aim admirably. I would have liked some unique character to Dark Void somewhere, which is why in my eyes it is only a 4 star game, but just for it's pick up and play(ability) Dark Void cannot be faulted. All I did was put it at the best resolution for my monitor and pick up my pad. Not many games are that simple any more.
