Superb, a must buy.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Intrusion (Audio CD)
I am staggered that this CD has not been reviewed but maybe explains the small circles some music moves in. I first heard about this release on the DPRP website (get a link for Prog Rock reviews) and the description was so colourful I took a chance.
Whilst my core music purchases are Prog Rock related, my musical rationale is for music that is different, exciting and needs a certain amount of exploration, that is I want to grow into the music, spend time understanding the ups and downs because sometimes once the penny drops the rush can be fantastic. My teen purchases were early Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Caravan, Becket but also The Who, Les Zep, Deep Purple, SAHB and Beatles. Now its Transatlantic, Kaipa, Discipline, Glass Hammer, IZZ and Big Big Train but also Von Hertzen Brothers.
So where does this CD sit, well, at the very top to be honest. This is one CD I always take away on holiday when I need music that will give a quick hit of everything that is great about Rock/ Prog Rock but does it with a style that is most unusual, very very different BUT recognisable at the same time.
I recently purchased 'Nine Lives' by the (new to me) Von Hertzen Brothers, loved the music, the variety of rock, folk etc styles and whilst I do think it deserves 4* it is not in the same league as this CD. With VHB I can see others playing their tracks depending on the styles offered (Queen, Black Sabbath, Kaiser Chiefs etc), with this CD there is no clear reference point although the music makes an instant impact.
Read the DPRP review, it is far better than I in describing this, I just know that anyone who likes Rock with a progie bit will love this.
