This review is from: Advanced Web Metrics with Google Analytics (Paperback)
Announced and marketed as a breakthrough in terms of explaining Google Analytics it delivers a lot of static knowledge. Most of it you can read up logging onto Googles own websites, for example Google Analytics Conversion University. It is written in a cumbersome and dry style and obviously aimed at people who are already "in the know" but it fails to address marketers and business owners with less specific knowledge.
If you really want to understand how Google Analytics works and how it can be utilised for your own business purposes, I would recommend
Web Analytics An Hour a Day by Avinash Kaushik.

hmmm... Looks like I missed Jane's expectations on this one. There is no doubt Avinash is a great writer and all round nice guy, but his Hour a Day book does not discuss Google Analytics in any great detail, so not sure how that can help.

Firstly, I'm not sure why there are 2008 comments on the 2nd edition of Brian's book and yes Avinash is a fantastic writer but his book focuses on the business side of things whilst Brian's book focuses more on the detail and implementation of GA - the why? how? what you should expect from these advanced GA implementations. Just ordered the 2nd edition - will leave a review once digested!
