Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: PortaPow 2.5A Quad USB Wall Charger with 3 Year Guarantee (UK Plug) (Accessory)
I bought this to cut down on then number of chargers plugged in to my sockets. The intention was to charge any combination of 2 x iPads, 2x Kindle Fire, 2 x iPhones, 3 x iTouch.
Unfortunately this product is deeply flawed when wanting to charge multiple items concurrently.
I have the latest 2.1A version of the charger. What the charger does, is that it lets any device draw as much current as it wants, and if the total is greater than the 2.1A available then then charger will cut out for a moment and reset; this continue ad infinitum until the devices have been reduced as to draw a total less than 2.1A; this is particaulty annoying if one of the the devices connected is an iPad as to will continually hear the connect/disconnect audile notification...
Why this device cannot limit the current drawn rather than just cut out if the devices try and pull more is beyond me - this is not a fault BTW as the behaviour was confirmed by the supplier.
Combinations that work:
iPad2 + iPad2 - this works *most* of the time. If both iPad batteries are very low then I experience the symptoms described above.
iPhone 4 + iPhone 4 - same behaviour as 2 x iPads
Combinations that don't work:
Amazon Kindle Fire + Any other device - this charger is incapable of charging a Kindle Fire and any other device concurrently - in fact try an charge a kindle fire and any other device together and you will drain your kindle fire battery as the charger continually reseting keeps the kindle fire screen on.
iPad2 + iPhone 4/4S - it may charge 2 x iPads most of the time, but it doesn't work so well when charging 1 x iPad plus an iPhone.
1 x tablet + 1 x Phone + anything else. Want to charge your phone, your tablet and something else? - then forget about it - this may as well be a 2 USB port charger for all the use the other free ports are.
It also doesn't charge Sony PS3 games controllers or Panasonic 3D glasses...
So much promise, but really doesn't do what I want. If I plug 4 x tablets in, limit them 500mA each and they'll charge overnight, don't try and give them 6A and then have a hissy fit and not charge anything. As such I could not recommend this product a this time

This review is for the previous version, which was updated March 2013 so that any four devices can be charged without overloading.

2 x ipad2 + Samsung galaxy S4 all charge happily together. The S4 is a high drawing device and yet all I have never experienced the problem listed above.

I have the latest version, 2500ma (or 2.5 amps) is the max limit, none of the sockets have designated output ratings and the device does not control the amount of current between the 4 sockets.
2500ma... 2x iPad 2's + 2xamazon kindle fire's is well over 10 amps, iPhone 5s, iPad 2, all come as standard with a 2000ma charger unit, they actually pull this, kindle fire will probally be rated as high, if the portapow unit has a breaker it will cut out if you don't observe the max load limit, these adapters will not reduce the current between sockets, trickle charge function is for when the device isn't pulling the full charge rate for powering it only, but when the device(s) are in charge mode they will try to pull the full whack, the portapow unit has no current flow control.
Only problem I've had with mine is the lights stay blue, otherwise I've had it charging PS3 and PS4 controllers no probs, if you exceed 2500ma you are overloading it

I've marked it not helpful as it isn't... iPad 2 takes nearly 10 hours to charge off the desktop PC, though iPad's charge fastest with the official apple charger as the iPad's / iPhones communicate with the apple chargers via USB.
Charges PS3 / PS4 controllers no problem!
Philips GoGear muse
Sony Z1 phone (sony charger via dedicated DC input is much faster than USB)
