I give up...........,
This review is from: The Patchwork Marriage (Paperback)

I've been a Jane Green fan from the start, but the demise of her writing style and substance in her last 2 books gave me reason to be cautious when choosing to read The Patchwork Marriage. I wasn't wrong to be cautious - it is truly dreadful.
It is a confused and plotless book, narrated by a variety of the books characters, but none of them consistently. It tells the 'story' in the main of Andi, her husband, and stepchildren. Oh and the ex wife and the trainer and the next door neighbours too. None of the characters have any depth and lack any sense of emotion to be honest. The plot trails lightly through what could have been an excellent choice of subject - childlessness and step-parenting, but is lost in streams of nonsense.
I don't know what Jane Green has done, but I give up on her as an author. I can't bear to waste precious hours reading this (and yes I did persevere to the end) - nonsense with a few 'modern' social references (Facebook and online dating) thrown in awkwardly to boot.
To sum up - imagine a truly awful 1980's made for TV romance 'true story' on satellite channel dire, and this is about the level of it.
Sorry to be harsh, but it really is that bad. If I could I'd give it no stars at all.

I agree. I was listening to it as an audio book so did get to the end. But totally predictable from the start, dull, over acted and repetitive. It's a real shame but I think I will give up too now.
