Very Boring Hammer Horror Film,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb [DVD] (DVD)
I love the Hammer Horror films, but I have never been a fan of their Mummy films. To be honest, I always found them to be very slow and boring and my least favourites of all of the Hammer Horrors. This film, which was the second Mummy film made by Hammer, is no exception. It takes over half of the film before the mummy even does anything and then we don't see much of him when he does come to life. I only noticed one Hammer regular in the cast, which was the ever dependable Michael Ripper, but he only appeared briefly in the film. The fact that there were no other Hammer regulars should have told me something, but I am a Hammer completist and I needed this film for my collection. I wish now that I hadn't bothered. Basically, if you are easily bored or like more action-packed horror films, then you should avoid this film like the plague, or like the mummy itself. I am sure that this film would bore most modern audiences witless and cinema goers must have been more easily entertained back in 1964, when this film was originally released. I cannot recommend this film at all, but then I am biased as I don't like other Mummy films either. Two stars from me, for this very dull effort.
