Re-construction time again,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Construction Time Again (Audio CD)
I've been a Depeche Mode fan since the beginning.. one of the consistent features is the constant evoloution of each album, the way inwhich they link with the previous release, or things that reflected the band at the time.
CTA is the birth of DM's "industrial" strata; the first major use of samplers by the band. DM had also shifted toward a teutonic style from their increasing exposure to continental europe, this albumbeing mixed at the famous Hansa studios in Berlin.
The last time I bought this was on cassette on its release, so the purchase of the 5.1 format was highly anticipated. I know I say this alot, but I'm aware that the appeal of this format is not to everyones cup of tea, but for me it releases a fresh dimension on classic recordings, almost as if listening for the first time. Depeche Mode's music was made for surround, atmospheric, brooding and emotive, every detail enhsanced by its own space in the surround spectrum.
Again purists will say that a record is made for stereo, we only have 2 ears, however we have five senses and for me it is the way these recordings push my senses that make them worthwhile investments.
Construction time Again is not DM's best album, but it is part of the colourful fabric that DM have created over the past 30 years..
