This review is from: Star Trek - Deep Space Nine 4: the Big Game (Mass Market Paperback)I've always found Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch's novels to vary wildly in style. "The Long Night" was good, whereas "The Mist" was terrible. "Vectors" was good, but "By the Book" is terrible. Reading "The Big Game", I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was; its probably their best novel. Quark and Odo are the most entertaining characters in the novel, and the subplot of the "interphase" lifeforms was excellent as well. Numerous DS9 and TNG guest characters appear, such as Grand Nagus Zek, his son Krax, Lursa and B'Etor and Rasmussen, the time-travelling con artist.
