For those in doubt... yes, this is an excellent album, well worth stumping up for!,

I've long been a fan of Bowie's music, and I had assumed- after a decade of no new work- that he was sort of done with it (fair enough, he's done enough to merit a rest!). I thought his previous last couple of CDs were a bit weak in comparison with his work of the 70s and 80s, and I was a bit unsure whether to bother buying The Next Day.
But I'm SOOO glad I did!
Ignore the rubbish cover artwork and just listen to the music! It is the best thing he's recorded in many, many years. To be honest, it doesn't sound like the work of a bloke past his retirement age... more like a good hungry, angry, rock band. It's punchy, full of energy, brash, poetic but not posey (or pompous), it has depth and meaning and it's still punky and spiky and in yer face. And it's better played loud too....
It's a long time since I've sat and listened to a CD from start to finish without getting just a bit bored of the filler, but this is an excellent album of All Killer No Filler!
Having paid less than £7 for it, I actually feel a bit bad for not throwing the full price Bowie's way, it's certainly worth it...
