Needs more tumeric,
This review is from: R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department [Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
M.I.B. returns with Reynolds and Bridges taking over the reins, and Ghosts standing in for aliens.....or so you'd think...
Reynolds plays a cop who gets killed by Footloose, because he wants to turn in some gold. It turns out that this gold forms a staff that will bring the dead back to earth. to rule...
So Reynolds is dead, but gets recruited at the titular place, and has Rooster Cogburn as a partner....
It borrows, nay, steals from Men In Black and Ghostbusters, and lots of the jokes fall flat, yet despite all its shortcomings and its box office status, I had fun while it lasted.
Yes it's bad, and Bridges is the only good thing in the movie, but lower your expectations, prepare for some bad effects, really, really hilarious overacting from Bacon (or ham in this case), and Reynolds playing the same characters always, and you may get something out of it.
The running joke with the Avatars works, especially when Bridges keeps getting propositioned, and has to turn them down. It's odd I must say, and it needed a much better script and narrative, but in one of the worst summers ever, there are bigger stinkers out there.
Ignore the Box Office, and just lower your expectations.
I mean this could have had Galifiniakas as the lead for heavens sake.
