I own like every major release the BBC put out. I thought I've seen it all, and i thought its tough for new nature docs to surprise me. but this one surprisingly did just that. this has some truly stunning camera work that really stands out. there are even several scenes that i have never seen before, most of all the jumping manta rays come to mind. out of all the dvd/blu rays that i own this one really stands out top notch work by the team (which surprisingly wasnt even the bbc as far as i understand it, but they did not dissappoint).
okay after all the praise, and i really do feel this is a 5 star product, here are some things that bothered me a little bit:
-not enough use of the cameras that were "strapped" onto some birds. i really enjoyed the point of view cameras.
-for some strange reason, i dont know if its a production error or if it was the intent, several scenes seem to run at around 1.3x speed. i found that a little distracting. but hey, maybe their argument is, if we run slow motion, why not speed it up once in a while :P
-i would have preferred for asia/australia to be treated seperately. big australia fan, but there wasnt enough of it in the last episode.
