Authentic Thai food,

This review is from: Thai Street Food (Hardcover)
As many other reviews have pointed out, this book does contain a large amount of 'street life' pictures and I can see how many people take the view that this has been used to 'fill out' the book. I spend a lot of time in Thailand and have also met David Thompson, and would like to think it was an attempt to invoke some feeling of Thai life, as the author is quite passionate about all things Thai. I think the book does achieve this, although I do conceed that there's so much of it, the book almost looses it's identity as a cookbook and becomes a coffee table book.
The recipes themselves, are all top class authentic recreations of Thai cuisine, as they were in the authors last book, 'Thai food'. I've already made a couple, 'Kao glook gapi' and 'Moo ping', which were a sucess with my Thai friends, who as usual, asked my wife for the recipes, not thinking a foreigner could have been responsible for making them. Which for any Thai cook book, must be the ultimate barometer of sucess.
For me, an excellent cookbook, but could have done with less pictures, probably bringing the price down abit as well.
