Unhappy with the edition..,
This review is from: The Snowman Special Edition [DVD] (DVD)
No original introduction ! DVD features the Father Christmas introduction rather than the one we all remember. I'm not sure why after all this time they had to alter it ? Watched my old VHS tape instead.

Mr. Philip A. Bain says:
The original introduction (with David Bowie) is included on the disc as a special feature.

Geoffrey McCarthy says:
The original introduction does not have David Bowie in it at all. I believe the intro with him was added some years later for the American market. The original introduction was done by the book's author, Raymond Briggs. I too think it's so difficult to find the original version with Brigg's intro. I do actually have this version on DVD and ironically I had to purchase a Region 1 copy from the States.

If you want the original Briggs introduction, go for the Sony DVD released on 24 Oct 2006 or the Sony "double holiday feature" pack with Father Christmas released on 1 Dec 1998. These are also in the original aspect ratio of 4:3.
