Better 2nd. effort "post Layne" era...,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here(Picture Disc) [VINYL] (Vinyl)
Strong songs, great songwriting, a well worthy BGWTB follow up. The only thing is that I was expecting more DuVall and less Cantrell, I mean, what's the point in having a lead singer? Don't get me wrong, the songs are pretty good (Phantom Limb stands out) but looks like Alice in Chains is becoming into some kind out "duet/harmony/singing band" and that's something I need time to get used to. Anyway, totally recommended.
Now, this vinyl issue. I'm not a fan of picture discs but since this is a "limited" edition (don't know how many), which makes me think that there will be a "normal" one in the future (I don't hold my breath considering how low are sales nowadays with downloading, itunes, etc.), I went for it. Discs look beautiful, the sound not that much, and again: not mastered for this format. The "outter sleeve" looks cheap, is just a red transparent plastic gatefold (the same you could buy to protect your gatefold albums, but red) and most probably will tear or rip with use, especially in the middle where it folds. Comes with a lyrics printed inner sleeve. That's pretty much it, if you ask me I would have prefered a normal gatefold, but well, kind of "innovative" it is.
Hope you like my review! Enjoy it!
