Cheap CD - and it shows!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Icon (Audio CD)
This budget CD comes from Universal Music's "Icon" series which aims to feature the greatest hits, signature tunes and fan favourites of the most popular artists in music history - not that this is explained anywhere in the CD information.
If I didn't know better, I'd have thought this was a bootleg. Budget CDs don't have to be quite as cheaply thrown together as this. The album doesn't even feature a title, and has a pretty uncomplimentary mugshot of Oldfield on the cover.
The obligatory inclusion of Tubular Bells is severely edited, and nobody spotted the missing "P" in the title of the last track which now reads as "Incantations Art Four". The booklet contains no information about Oldfield, where the tracks have been sourced from or the reason for inclusion on this CD - and although it lists every musician playing in the orchestra for the tracks taken from "Music of the Spheres" it can't be bothered to credit Maggy Reilly or any of the other musicians on "Moonlight Shadow", and claims that Viv Stanshall wrote "Sailor's Hornpipe"!
This seems to be a rather random and unncessary compilation, with sloppy and amateurish packaging, even given the low price. 2 stars - because at least most of the music itself is OK.
